What is organic

Organic means that the ingredients of our delicious chocolates are grown and manufactured without the use of chemical fertilizers, drugs, hormones, or synthetic chemicals and therefore have no detrimental effects on either you or the environment.

This is important for the chocolatier and you as the consumer for the following reasons:

• Organically grown plants have a higher nutrient content and therefore feed the body health.

• Because no chemical pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are used, no harmful contaminants are taken into the body which act as neurotoxins and can cause you grave damage.

• Pesticides that are used while growing the plants often contaminate the surrounding water sources – another no-no for health

• Organic farming and production also ensures that there is no widespread use of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers, which all have wreak havoc on the environment.

• The third-world farmers that provide us with our ingredients are fully committed to organic farming practices. This means natural products while creating an opportunity for them to make a sustainable living for themselves and their families and to generate employment opportunities for others.

• We use raw cane sugar instead of refined sugar to retain all the natural nutrients to allow you to experience the full chocolaty flavour of the beans – enriching your eating pleasure.

• Our longer conching period and the ingredients that we use ensure that no added emulsifiers such as soy lecithin (which can be genetically engineered) are needed to bond the ingredients in our chocolates.

• There is a wide-spread belief that cocoa trees are the future of saving the rain forest ecosystem.
